Triantos Ready to Rock & Roll at Sloan Park

James Triantos lined a double off the LF fence, stole 3rd base, and scored on a balk in the bottom of the 1st inning, Christian Olivo drilled a double into the LF corner leading off the bottom of the 3rd and scored on a Brayan Altuve line-drive RBI single, and Jefferson Rojas clobbered a two-run HR that landed at the top of the berm in LF in the bottom of the 7th, leading the Cubs to a 4-1 victory over the Diamondbacks Black squad in Cactus League Extended Spring Training game action Monday morning at Sloan Park In Mesa, AZ.

Modeifi Marte smacked a solo HR to account for the D'backs lone run.

James Triantos made his first game appearance since tearing a meniscus in his knee during Minor League Camp in March.

Prior to the game, RHPs Wilbur Rodriguez Wilme Mora, Yenrri Rojas, and Luis A. Reyes (not to be confused with Luis R. Reyes!) threw bullpens on the 12 pack, and RHP Jordan Holloway (on AAA Iowa 60-day IL) threw "live" BP on Field #6. (W. Mora, Y. Rojas, and L. A. Reyes just arrived at Extended Spring Training from the Cubs Dominican Academy).

AZ Phil,

What do you believe is the timeline for Herz to return to TN (I'm assuming TN since that's where he was last yr)?
Brown was promoted, Powell is now holding that last rotation spot. Herz probably takes that spot when ready, correct?

Luke Little gets the move to the bullpen. You think he moves pretty quickly now if he performs well? He's SP stats were impressive. You'd hope those would translate quickly and earn a promotion to TN.

Just read where Elias is signing with a team in Korea.

Childersb3: DJ Herz is starting the EXST Cubs game today, so his return to Tennessee won't be until next week (at the earliest).

Zac Leigh and maybe Burl Carraway are more likely to get moved up to Tennessee sooner (maybe even today, because I didn't see either of them yesterday). Carraway's FB velo was topping out at 97 last week, although his command is still spotty.

Ferris to Myrtle Beach. Skips rookie ball completely!
McGeary to TN. I'm assuming Felix Stevens will get the 1B spot now in SB. Maybe A. Suriel gets the nod in MB !

Once Herz, Triantos ,Howard, and Gray are ready to go to TN, SB, and MB, respectively, the system will be almost 100% full strength.

Heuer is making his way back as well.

Obviously, Canario will still be working back.

I hope that Perlaza goes on to have a successful career.  On most Cubs teams prior to the current administration, he would have been one of their more highly ranked prospects.  As far as the others are concerned, one or more may well go on to be much better than expected, but unfortunately there is no way to tell which one at the present time.  You can't keep everyone.

Another one of the nine Cubs post-2023 Rule 9 minor league 6YFA has signed, as RHP Carlos Guzman (acquired from the Tigers for Zack McKinstry at the end of Spring Training) signed a 2024 minor league contract with the Mets.

So RHRP Yovanny Cruz (SD), C-INF P. J. Higgins (CIN), and now Carlos Guzman (NYM) have already signed 2024 minor league contracts with new MLB organizations, and OF Yonathan Perlaza is headed for Korea (Hanhwa Eagles).
